Gail Becker never imagined becoming an entrepreneur. As a senior corporate executive and mom of two boys with Celiac disease, she desperately tried to find easy nutritious gluten-free food options. This frustration with the gluten-free industry led her to found
in 8,000 stores nationwide, which are baked chicken breasts coated with cauliflower. They are game changing in terms of nutrition and taste. I was excited to chat with Becker about her experience breaking into the food industry with such innovative products, creating a successful food company, and her advice for other founders. Here are highlights from our conversation:I’ve had a long career doing everything except food.
I remember exactly when I got an email from the Whole Foods team that they were going to take my products. I was in a Starbucks in Washington D.C. literally right after seeing my friend lead a workshop at the White House for female entrepreneurs. Literally left this White House talk on female entrepreneurship, went to Starbucks, and got an email from whole Foods saying that they had accepted us into 30 stores which was mind blowing.
