Cats was meant to be ridiculous and sexy and fun and gay, and this movie is just, well, ridiculous
to what can only be described as General Anguish from the internet. It was a brief moment of unity rarely experienced by those who frequent Twitter dot com—the rising up of one collective voice to say, “What the actual fuck?”

The Cats Movie Is Exactly as Bad as It LooksYou have to hand it to the internet’s hivemind: Sometimes we get it right. It was practically virtuosic, the accuracy with which Tom Hooper’s cinematic version of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats was clocked upon the release of a behind-the-scenes teaser of it in July. Nailed it. Dead on. Haven’t seen such a good call made since the trailer for Roland Emmerich’s eventual bomb Stonewall cratered upon arrival.
