Dressed in a long white gown, Underwood looked at ease standing beside her childhood crush and country music icon in the Opry circle where she performed her current single "Southbound,” White's 1996 hit “I'm Not Supposed to Love You Anymore” and “Something in the Water.” During herinto the Oklahoma Hall of Fame last year, she confessed her early love for White while her husband was seated in the audience.
"If you had asked me when I was 5 years old, 10 years old, 'What are you going to be when you grow up?' I would have said, 'I'm going to be a famous country music singer,” she told the audience in her induction speech. “The only reason, in my head, as a child, that something that big and that grand and that amazing was possible was because I had seen other people do it that were from places just like where I grew up. I saw Reba [McEntire].
"And I'm sorry, honey, but when I was growing up, I was pretty sure I was gonna marry that guy," Underwood said to husband Mike Fisher, referring to White. “But, you know, it all worked out.’” Underwood is scheduled to return to the road in September for the second leg of her Cry Pretty Tour 360.
