On an inconsistent Cardinals' defense that has had good individual efforts, defensive lineman Zach Allen has been a bright spot this season.
Maybe his sharp focus is a reason why Allen, who had a season high four quarterback hits against the Los Angeles Chargers two weeks ago when the Cardinals last played, has had a strong 2022. After offseason ankle surgery, Allen was ready to go when the season started, and he's been fairly consistent.
Allen said rehabbing from his injury had him focused every day in the offseason to try to get back to playing by training camp. Then just the experience factor, with him in his fourth season, has helped him improve. The Cardinals defense has made big plays, but has also been unable at times to get stops or make a key play in situations when one is needed to win the game.
"There's been games where it's been pretty good. And it's been about five or six plays of bad football," Joseph said."That's the frustration with our defense. There's been times where it looked really good, and there's times where you go 'Man, what is that?' I can't explain it all the time. Obviously it's frustrating and we've got five weeks to try and fix it.
