About 3:30 p.m. Saturday, a gunman opened fire outside the outlets in the 800 block of West Stacy Road, near U.S. Highway 75, killing eight people and wounding seven others before he was fatally shot by a police officer.Like hundreds of others, Cheri McLean, 68, and her husband — who were in town visiting family from Oklahoma — were escorted to the perimeter of the outlet mall and unable to obtain their car.
McLean and her husband said information regarding when they’d be let back in was scarce, noting they hadn’t seen an update from Allen police since about 1:15 p.m. Sunday and didn’t know the retrieval process was already underway until they spoke withThe McLeans said they’re thankful to be safe, especially since they heard the gunshots, but were surprised by how much of a disruption an incident like this can cause in so many people’s lives.
