Capgemini, the French consultancy is buying R&D outsourcer Altran for 3.6 bln euros. Turning buzzwords into gold is hard, though, says LiamWardProud:
Consulting firm Capgemini's shares rose 7% on June 25, the day after it announced a 3.6 billion euro takeover of smaller rival Altran Technologies.
Capgemini said it hoped to tap into demand from its customers in industries ranging from telecom to aerospace, as well as research and development teams. Capgemini said late on June 24 that it would offer 14 euros per Altran share in cash, representing a 30% premium over the one-month volume-weighted average share price before June 21.
It is targeting cost savings of 70-100 million euros after three years, and annual revenue gains of 200-350 million euros.
