Hundreds of flights leaving and arriving at UK airports have been cancelled or delayed
Flights are cancelled from a number of UK airports today, including Liverpool John Lennon Airport and Manchester Airport.
Travel disruption could last for days after flights were cancelled leaving thousands of passengers stranded following an air traffic control technical fault. Delays started on Monday after a UK air traffic control failure meant flight plans had to be input manually by controllers. By Monday afternoon, 232 flights departing UK airports had been cancelled and 271 arriving flights, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium. Passengers were urged by airlines to check before they leave for the airport as their flight times may have changed.Liverpool John Lennon Airport said in a statement said: "Although the country-wide flight planning systems failure has now been resolved, there will be a knock-on effect causing some delays and cancellations.
"As some flights are arriving and departing on slightly adjusted schedules, our terminals might be busier than anticipated, but our teams will be working with airlines and their handling agents to get you through the airport as smoothly as possible.
