This online personality test bets it can predict your fashion sense
I’d expect these questions from a therapist or a nosey first date, but this time I’m answering them while, of all things, shopping. Asking me these hard-hitting questions is Anabel Maldonado, the Canadian, London-based founder of, a new styling service that uses psychology teachings and a personality test to find you exciting new wardrobe staples.
Maldonado studied psychology at York University, and went on to work in the fashion industry at Christian Louboutin and. Through these combined experiences, she saw an opportunity to launch a fashion platform that examines more closelywe wear the things that we wear.
The platform’s five personality categories each have their own loose fashion themes assigned to them: someone who ranks low on the agreeable scale, for instance, would be seen as guarded, and gravitates towards “tougher,” edgier pieces. A neurotic person—who is prone to the odd bad mood—would also favor darker hues, according to the platform. Of course, Maldonado recognizes that who we are and what we wear is a little more nuanced than a simple questionnaire.
After taking the quick questionnaire, it was time to read about my personality score. “If you've ever wondered why you're drawn to certain colors, shapes, prints, or brands, your personality scores can help you understand why,” the platform reads as I scroll to my results. I rate high on certain categories, including a 70 percent for openness. “Your style reflects this with unique silhouettes and bold detailing,” the site reads.
