The former Aberdeen full-back has missed all of this season with injury but he'll finally get the chance to make his Preston debut this week.
Scotland star Calvin Ramsay is set to get an injury reprieve at last as he prepares to return for English Championship side Preston this week.
Former Aberdeen star Ramsay joined the Lancashire side on loan from Liverpool in the summer but a recurrence of the injury which had him sidelined for much of last season means he's yet to play for them competitively. Ramsay joined Liverpool from the Dons for an initial £4.2million which could rise to £6.5m but a knee problem has ravaged his progress.
He played for the Liverpool first team against Napoli last season and made his Scotland debut against Turkey soon after. But he spent the second half of the campaign in the treatment room with Jurgen Klopp opting to send him out to Preston to pick up some regular first-team football. He joined the high-flying Championship outfit on loan in the summer and even played against his old club Aberdeen as a late substitute in a pre-season friendly in July but soon had to return to Anfield for treatment. However, he has now been given the all-clear to return and play for the Deepdale side having been declared fully fit by Liverpool and will play in Preston's Lancashire Senior Cup tie against Accrington Stanley.
Preston boss Ryan Lowe said: "Calvin is back with us this week and we are hoping, touch wood, he can feature in the Lancashire Senior Cup game. He will definitely get some minutes in that and he’ll have a full week of training with us next week, so it’ll be nice to have him back.”
