Is a £10 Christmas bonus from the DWP enough as families struggle with cost of living crisis in December?
December can be a really expensive time of year for families, and this year budgets will be tighter than ever due to the cost of living crisis.
The £10 Christmas bonus is actually nothing new though - it was first paid out in the 1970s and was established permanently as part of the Pensioners' Payments and Social Security Act 1979. Since then, the £10 amount has never changed - we want to know do you think a £10 Christmas bonus is enough?According to the Bank of England's inflation calculator, if the Government had increased the £10 payment in line with inflation it would now be worth £44.98.

And opinions are very mixed about the £10 payment - with some saying it needs to be more to help families survive, with others saying people should feel grateful to get any bonus at all. Angela Hayhurst added: "This needs to be increased it’s been a tenner since first came out in 1972" and Pauline Swanson said: "This has been paid for years and years, it’s never gone up, wouldn’t by you a full Christmas dinner these days. Just worthless."
