California has sued the city of Huntington Beach, a seaside suburb in Orange County, for what it says is a knowing disregard for state housing law

In a news briefing, California Attorney General Rob Bonta said the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in Orange County Superior Court, is a response to the city’s “brazen, blatant, egregious” moves to block homeowners from building accessory dwelling units, known as granny flats, and add more units on land zoned for single-family homes.
