The latest lawsuits against Purdue Pharma also named members of the firm’s controlling Sackler family, which has come under increasing pressure

Two more states and the District of Columbia filed lawsuits Monday against OxyContin-maker Purdue Pharma LP, leaving just a handful of states that haven’t yet sued over the opioid crisis.

The new lawsuits, filed by the attorneys general in California, Maine and D.C., allege Purdue’s aggressive marketing of prescription painkillers helped lead to widespread addiction and overdose deaths. The actions seek penalties from Purdue and the recovery of money the jurisdictions have borne from the opioid crisis.
