The hurricane will be the first tropical storm to hit California in 84 years

Efforts are underway to get homeless people off the streets in Los Angeles, while shelters are being built for emergency evacuations. A tropical storm watch has been issued for the majority of Southern California, stretching from the Pacific coast to the mountains. “I don’t think any of us — I know me particularly — never thought I’d be standing here talking about a hurricane or a tropical storm,” said Janice Hahn, chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
It is then predicted to continue north, raising concerns it could cause dangerous flooding in the border city of Tijuana. President Joe Biden said the Federal Emergency Management Agency had extra staff and supplies in the region.
