California’s U.S. Senate race is kicking off at a hectic pace, with candidates holding competing events more than a year before the primary election.

Schiff's rally, held on a nippy, mostly overcast morning, marked the start of a two-week statewide tour, with stops to include San Diego, Sacramento, Fresno and San Francisco. He mentioned “democracy” more than a half-dozen times in the speech. He's selling T-shirts and coffee mugs on his campaign website, with the slogan “Democracy Matters.” He called Trump, who has announced his 2024 campaign for the presidency, “a demagogue bent on destroying our democracy.”

Indonesia is not issuing ID cards enabling Chinese citizens to vote in 2024Indonesian social media users have shared a false claim that the country has issued more than 13,000 ID cards to Chinese citizens so they can vote in the upcoming 2024 elections. But according to Indonesia's laws, only Indonesian citizens can vote in the elections. A government official not only confirmed this but also told AFP just around 900 ID cards had been issued to Chinese citizens. As of February 7, 2023, only foreign citizens who held Permanent Stay Permits (KITAP) from the Immigration Office were eligible for ID cards, under the archipelago nation's immigration laws.
