Bud Light’s drop comes after two months of controversy resulting from social media promotion of the brand by transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, which resulted in a boycott by critics. Sales of Bud Light declined steadily in weeks after Mulvaney posted a promotion for a Bud Light contest on her Instagram account including a Bud Light tallboy can with her likeness. The post quickly sparked calls to boycott the beer; the LGBTQ+ community, meanwhile, was angered by Bud Light’s response to the controversy.
