Buckeye police arrest man on suspicion of shooting a man during an argument and fleeing

who attempted to intervene in an argument between Mendoza and his girlfriend last Tuesday, according to Buckeye police.

Officers said Mendoza was in a vehicle with his girlfriend and the victim just before 7 p.m. when the argument broke out. In an attempt to stop the argument, the victim began physically fighting with Mendoza. After the group arrived at their destination, a home near Yuma Road and Jackrabbit Trail, police said Mendoza allegedly went inside, retrieved a gun and shot the victim. Mendoza fled in a vehicle.Buckeye police and the U.S. Marshals Service tracked Mendoza to Tucson where he was arrested and taken into custody.

Mendoza faces several charges including attempted homicide and was booked into a Maricopa County jail while awaiting trial.
