The trade that put the Carolina Panthers in position to pick Bryce Young at No. 1 in the NFL Draft on Thursday played a part in the quarterback keeping his college number.
Quarterback Matt Corral had the No. 9 jersey for the Panthers, although when he joined Carolina in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, he had wanted to wear No. 2, his jersey at Ole Miss.The Panthers were able to pick Young at No.
1 after making a trade to obtain the first selection from the Chicago Bears. To get to the top of the draft, Carolina sent Chicago the ninth and 61st choices for this year, first- and second-round picks in 2024, a second-round selection in 2025 and Moore.With Moore no longer with the Panthers, Corral has switched his number to 2, clearing the way for Young to wear 9.
