Nick Chubb might have escaped a torn ACL on Monday night, but we'll know more after he undergoes surgery.
Chubb, 27, rushed 10 times for 64 yards before the injury on Monday and had carried the ball 28 times for 170 yards this season.
Now in his sixth season, Chubb has rushed for 6,511 yards in his career, the fourth-most in Browns history, 29 yards behind Mike Pruitt. He likely would have passed Leroy Kelly’s 7,274 yards this season, too, and ended the year behind only Jim Brown’s 12,312 yards.He will be replaced by second-year running back Jerome Ford as the starter. The Browns also brought back running back Kareem Hunt on a one-year deal.
“You don’t replace Nick Chubb. You just don’t do that,” head coach Kevin Stefanski said this week. “Great players in the league, you look around, they go out. It’s always not one person that replaces a player of his caliber.
