“He’s a big target,” head coach Sean Payton said. “There’s a lot of confidence in his catch radius. And there’s some matchups he can create on the field.”After Wilson’s first pass attempt in the first quarter was incomplete, followed by a 3-yard reception from rookie tight end Nate Adkins, Sutton needed to give the offense some juice on third-and-7.
Denver’s wide receivers have struggled to find consistency this season. But Sutton has emerged as a go-to target for Wilson in the red zone. He has five touchdown receptions in 2023 after recording four in the last two seasons combined. “No matter what the circumstances are, he is going to believe,” Wilson said. “He’s a great competitor and made some clutch plays.”
