The Broncos’ outside zone toss plays to Javonte Williams and Melvin Gordon were cooking early. Well-designed plays accounted for Seattle’s edge defenders, part of a Broncos run game that averaged 5.2 yards per carry despite no runs of longer than 13 yards . The offense just needs to be more effective on goal-to-go carries.
Right guard Quinn Meinerz left the game in the first half, injured while blocking for a field goal and shutting it down after he felt discomfort trying to block downfield on a screen pass. The Broncos were already without presumptive right tackle Billy Turner . If Meinerz is placed on injured reserve, he will miss a minimum of four games. Graham Glasgow replaced Meinerz.The Broncos committed 12 penalties for 106 yards . What should be maddening is the unforced nature of some of the penalties.
