The Metropolitan Police has called for The O2 Academy in Brixton to be stripped of its license following a crowd crush that killed two.

The O2 Academy in Brixton could permanently be stripped of its licence Academy Music Group , which owns the venue, supported the decision to suspend the licence and offered its condolences to the families of those who were killed.

The Security Industry Authority has also launched an inquiry into the corruption allegations, and police are also investigating. ‘We have had regular meetings and discussions with the Metropolitan Police and Lambeth Council at which we have presented detailed proposals that we believe will enable the venue to reopen safely.

‘The review of our licence will take place through the formal process with Lambeth Council in due course.’
