A bride-to-be who has lost eight stone in 15 months has been told to stop dieting as her wedding dress “can’t be taken in any more”.
Gaby Labrum, 31, became determined to shift the pounds in January 2022 ahead of her wedding in May this year. Weighing 20st 3lb and wearing a size 24, Gaby said she was “dreading” going shopping for a wedding dress. Just over a year later, the HR manager from Gloucestershire had gone down six dress sizes and her gown was still two sizes too big when it arrived for the first fitting. Gaby said: “I still want to lose more weight, but my dress tailor has advised against it because the dress can’t be taken in any more than it already has.
After signing up to The 1:1 Diet by Cambridge Weight Plan at the start of 2022 – swapping large portions of chilli con carne and curry for low-calorie soups and porridge – Gaby noticed herself dropping weight rapidly. Seeing how well her daughter was doing, mum Debbie Labrum was inspired to join theDebbie, a finance director from Cheltenham, weighed 21st and wore a size 26.
After following the programme for 15 months, Gaby now weighs 12st 4lb and wears a size 14, while Debbie is 15st 9lb and wears a size 18.Gaby said: “Since losing weight I have gained so much confidence in myself, taking on new challenges such as
