The Irishman believe there was a foul on Greg Taylor at the start of the move that led to the visitors scoring at Parkhead.
Brendan Rodgers reckons referee Matthew MacDermid needed more help from VAR after a "disappointing" decision at Celtic Park.
The Irishman saw his side battle to fend off a game Kilmarnock side at a wet and windy Parkhead, with Reo Hatate turning his promise of more sparkling form to come in to a stunning solo goal after 22 minutes. Luis Palma, who was gutted to see his would-be Champions League crowning moment ruled out on Wednesday, then made it two with a curling finish. Greg Taylor stung his old side with less than ten to play but it was the sole goal from Derek McInnes' men that irked Rodgers and co.
Taylor was involved in a tussle at the opposite end in an attack that eventually led to David Watson sliding the ball under Joe Hart. It came after Celtic were denied a penalty initially given when Hatate was bundled over. But on the Killie goal, he told BBC Sportsound: "I don't think it was a goal.
"As soon as he swivels to go in behind, he's brought to the floor. So the referee didn't quite see it, however he has a fourth official and a VAR team that are assessing it. I'm not sure where they were looking from, I hear they were looking from when the young guy played the ball out to Vassell. The actual foul was before that. And lo and behold they go up the other end and go into the space Greg leaves. We're disappointed with that. But it's one of those things.
Greg Taylor also lamented the consolation goal, saying it's a clear foul on him in the build up. It was an audible groan from the home crowd when the former Killie defender was bundled over before Watson struck. Taylor told Celtic TV: "They get their goal, albeit it's a foul on me in the build up. We react as all good teams do, when you get those tough moments we go and get the next goal and see the game out pretty comfortably.
