The New York Yankees re-signed outfielder Aaron Judge, giving him a record-setting, nine-year, $360 million contract. Judge won the 2022 AL MVP Award after hitting a league-record 62 home runs.

Judge led the Majors in home runs by 16, the largest gap to lead the Majors in a single season since Philadelphia-AL’s Jimmie Foxx led the Majors in 1932 by 17 over Babe Ruth . Judge also led the American League in home runs by 22, the largest gap by any AL player since Babe Ruth led the AL in 1928 by 27 homers over teammate Lou Gehrig .
Since 2017, Judge leads the Majors in home runs , ranks second in slugging percentage and OPS , fourth in on-base percentage , fifth in walks and 10th in runs batted in and runs scored . The Yankees outfielder has finished in the top four of AL MVP voting three times in the last six seasons . He is also the only player in the American League to hit at least 25 home runs in five of the last six seasons.
The 6′7″, right-handed hitting outfielder was named the American League Rookie of the Year in 2017 after establishing a then-single season rookie home run record. With his 52 home runs in 2017 and his 62 home runs in 2022, he is just the seventh player in Major League history to hit at least 52 home runs in multiple seasons, joining Mark McGwire , Babe Ruth , Alex Rodriguez , Sammy Sosa , Ken Griffey Jr. and Mickey Mantle .
