Police Scotland is still investigating the incident, which was described as a 'setback' by volunteers.
A break-in at the yard behind the walled garden at Barshaw Park in Paisley, which caused around £2,000 worth of damage, has been branded "mindless".
The subject was raised by Councillor Iain McMillan, Labour group leader, at Tuesday's police and fire and rescue scrutiny sub-committee. He asked if officers intended to keep an "extra eye" on the area in a bid to fend off the threat of a similar episode in the future. Chief Inspector Willie Graham, area commander for Renfrewshire, described the break-in as "mindless" and said "extra attention" would be given to the area, as much as it possibly could. He said: "As soon as anything like that happens that's got an impact in the community, we discuss it at the morning meeting that we have, we discuss it at the hub.
