TMI won the TAPPS Class 5A boys basketball state championship on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023 at Robinson High School.TMI defeated Austin St. Michael’s 54-46 to win the TAPPS Class 5A state championship in boys basketball on Saturday at Robinson High School in the Waco area.
Senior Kendrick De Luna, who signed with Cal State Fullerton, senior Yashi McKenize and junior Ojani Bowen, were named to the all-tournament team. The game was tight heading into the final quarter before De Luna, McKenzie and Bowen helped the Panthers open a 10-point lead to start the fourth.The Panthers, who are coached by former Spur Bruce Bowen, lost in the title game last year.
