“In the ’60s and ’70s, the typical bungalow had three bedrooms, a formal living room, a dining room and a closed-in kitchen. The living room was always located at the front of the house,” Yano says.Article content“That saw the advent of two-level and four-level splits. As lots kept getting narrower, the two-storey floor plans began to dominate.”“When they come into a bungalow today, they’re shocked. The bungalow seems so wide and spacious in comparison to those narrow two-storey homes.

“In this new take on the bungalow, all of the living is at the back of the house,” says Yano. It changes the dramatics and esthetics of the room,” says Yano. The electric fireplace is a cozy touch, featuring a hexagon tile surround.
