A boy’s World Cup haircut tribute to his favourite footballer Ronaldo has ‘got him kicked out of school’ - a decision his mum has branded 'ridiculous'.

The Ronaldo trim is a common symptom of World Cup fever but teachers apparently didn’t see the funny side Alfie Ransom, 12, asked his mum to shave his head but leave a tuft of fringe in place à la Ronaldo.

Alfie from Hull begged mum Emma Shaw to let him have the same do to coincide with this year’s World Cup. Emma, 32, claims she was called by school staff on Wednesday to say her son was being sent home for breaching school rules.
