GEORGETOWN — Boerne senior forward Kylie Combs offered a moment of levity through disappointment following the Greyhounds’ 2-0 loss against Celina in a Class 4A state semifinal on Wednesday at Birkelbach Field.It was Combs’ state-tournament debut after she did not get to play in Boerne’s 3-0 loss against Celina in the same round last year because of a red-card suspension.“I’m proud of our team,” Combs said. “We worked so hard, and I thought we had them there at the beginning.
“We were pressuring pretty hard,” Boerne senior defender Lily Griffith said. “We were stepping up and winning 50-50 balls, and I think that was making them panic a little bit. I feel we got a few good breakaways in the first half, and we just couldn’t put them away.” The Bobcats added to that when Mia Norman scored from 50 yards on a free kick with 23:24 left in the second half.
