Canceling airplane orders is difficult, but analysts say the crashes of two Boeing 737 MAX jets could provide some leverage to airlines wanting to rein in their orders

JAKARTA, Indonesia—Boeing Co. and PT Garuda Indonesia ended a meeting with no announced resolution of the airline’s request to alter or cancel a longstanding order for 737 MAX jets following the aircraft model’s two recent crashes.

Both I Gusti Ngurah Askhara Danadiputra, chief executive of Garuda, and Samir Belyamani, a Boeing director for international sales, declined to comment after meeting early Thursday at Jakarta’s international airport. Neither side said whether more discussions would be held.
