Very sad news this afternoon.
The family of George Winters has been informed of the sad discovery yesterday afternoon at the shoreline near Helensburgh. The 48-year-old vanished last Sunday, July 2 after ordering food from a restaurant in Dalry, Ayrshire.
Police in Greenock had appealed for help earlier in the week after it was believed he travelled to the town in his grey Peugeot 307 Sport.However, they published a statement this morning with news of the tragic find. It said: "The body of a man has been recovered from the shoreline near Helensburgh. "He is still to be formally identified but the family of George Winters who was reported missing from the Dalry area in Ayrshire since Sunday July 2, has been informed. There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course."
