Dallas police spokeswoman Kristin Lowman confirmed about 3:30 p.m. Thursday that authorities had recovered the body of one victim in the river, about 100 yards south of a spillway.
Otto Oswaldo chel Sagui, 25, a cousin, said through Sosa that the families have been sleeping in their cars at the park.Jiminez said the families wanted to be able to send the men’s bodies back to their homeland and added they are looking to raise money to help with that effort. In the midafternoon, additional police arrived and divers entered the water. More people coming to the park brought T-shirts and signs with pictures of the two young men.
When asked what else the Dallas community can give the families, Sosa said “At this point, prayers are always good.” On Monday, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said in a written statement that the men were believed to have died. “The most likely case is that the bodies will resurface on their own,” Evans said.
