For subscribers: Blake Masters TV ad promotes border technology financially linked to Peter Thiel.
Like every Republican running in Arizona’s U.S. Senate race this year, Blake Masters is talking about getting tough on the nation’s border with Mexico. He made that point last month in his first TV ad.
Masters’ campaign declined to comment about the matter. One of his Republican opponents, Jim Lamon, has had plenty to say about it.Lamon, a millionaire businessman, claims Big Tech would “own” Masters in the Senate. He has made the charge in debates and in an ad of his own, noting that Masters effectively shopped Thiel’s business interests in his ad.
Puck, a news and politics website, reported that Thiel earlier this year made “the hard pitch” for Masters to some of the deepest pockets in Republican politics at a Club for Growth event. The equipment scans for humans and reportedly can do so with much fewer false positives involving animals, in part by using software from Palantir Technologies, another company Thiel has invested in.
