The mum-of-five extorted cash from an innocent man
Mother-of-five Terri Walters extorted cash from a man as she threatened to make a false claim of rape against him. Nottingham Crown Court was told Walters, 33 and of George Street, Hucknall, sent him messages which gave him times to deposit the cash and warned: "Or I'm going to ring the Feds" - meaning police.
On that occasion, Walters was given the community order for two years and a nine-month drug treatment and testing order and 40 rehabilitation activity days. Walters first demanded £20 because she had not "eaten all week" - but more demands followed, often when she needed food. But then she came up with the lie about the rape, and the man panicked and made a number of small payments to her. The victim felt sick at the prospect of being reported and he was intimidated by Terri Walters, said Raglan Ashton, prosecuting, on Wednesday .
Mr Gosnell said Walters was "covered in sores" and has been ravaged by her addiction to Class A drugs. "She comes before the court as a pitiful soul who has done a wicked thing," added Mr Gosnell.
