The Mayflower Caravan Park in Appleby Street, Blackburn, was given permission to be built in 2006
An east Lancashire Gypsy site is to be upgraded. The Mayflower Caravan Park in Appleby Street, Blackburn, will get a new static home and two day amenity buildings.
The original planning application for the site in 2005 was turned down by Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council after concerns from nearby businesses. It was successfully appealed to a government inspector who allowed it to go ahead. Now the council has approved the modernisation. A report by planning officer Nick Blackledge said: “The application relates to an established / lawful gypsy caravan site, allowed on appeal in 2006.
“Planning permission is sought for the demolition and removal of two shower blocks, one static home, and the erection of two day amenity buildings. The rational around the proposal is to improve general living conditions for residents of the site, through introduction of ‘amenity buildings’ including living space and a bathroom, as a place for residents to use during the day, as an alternative space to their caravans.
