Alan Humphage, 80, couldn't shake a niggle after he saw a Metro lying in the porch of the lady's home.
Alan Humphage, 80, picks up extra copies of the paper when he’s on the bus or travelling through the city’s train stations.
‘I popped one Metro through her letterbox at around 5pm on Friday and rang her doorbell before heading off.’ He added: ‘I wanted to make sure she was okay. I finished my Metro deliveries at 6.30pm and went back to her house. This time I got closer to the front window, and that’s when I saw her.’ He said: ‘We’d called an ambulance and it arrived maybe an hour-and-a-half later. Two of the lady’s neighbours gave her water through a straw, she was very dehydrated.‘She was in a lot of pain and had been there for days.’
