Chris Wilder confirmed as third Watford manager this season as Slaven Bilic sacked WatfordFC
Slaven Bilic has been sacked by Watford after less than six months in charge and his replacement has already been confirmed.
Bilic only replaced Rob Edwards as head coach in September but the Hornets are languishing in ninth place in the Championship – four points outside the play-offs.Advertisement Watford have won just two of their last 13 games, with Bilic having to deal with a lengthy injury list. “We are all ambitious to succeed this season, so something new is needed quickly while the opportunity of promotion is still real,” said Technical Director Ben Manga of the club’s decision.
He added: “With the January transfer window over, to change coach is the only option available to re-energise for the final games ahead.”Bilic’s replacement is former Sheffield United and Middlesbrough boss Chris Wilder, who was announced less than an hour after the sacking was confirmed.Wilder is the 18th permanent manager of the Pozzo family reign at Watford, which began in 2012.
