President Biden intends to nominate Jonathan Kaplan, who founded the company that invented the Flip video camera, to serve as U.S. ambassador to Singapore
WASHINGTON—, the White House said.
Mr. Kaplan currently serves as chairperson of the EducationSuperHighway, a nonprofit that works with elected leaders to provide public school classrooms access to high-speed internet connections. Mr. Kaplan has held a number of corporate leadership roles. He was chief executive of San Francisco-based Fish Six Restaurant Corp., and led Pure Digital Technologies, which made the Flip camera. When the company was acquired by Cisco Systems , Mr. Kaplan became senior vice president and general manager of its consumer products division.
Mr. Kaplan raised at least $100,000 for Mr. Biden’s presidential campaign and affiliated joint fundraising committees, according to records released by the campaign.
