President Biden said during a press conference ahead of the G-20 Summit that the US aims to manage competition with China 'responsibly.'

Biden’s meeting with Xi was the highlight of his weeklong, round-the-world trip to the Middle East and Asia, and came at a critical juncture for the two countries amid increasing economic and security tensions. Xi, according to the Chinese government's account of the meeting,"stressed that the Taiwan question is at the very core of China's core interests, the bedrock of the political foundation of China-U.S. relations, and the first red line that must not be crossed in China-U.S. relations."
