Biden’s approval rating has hit a new low, according to Pew Research Center, with just 35% of people approving of his job performance. His disapproval is now at 62%, tied for its highest mark during his presidency. He is underwater with men, women, and people of every age group by anywhere from -25 points to -30 points.
The fact remains that Democrats like Biden, but they do not like the idea of Biden being president for another term. A Monmouth University poll in March found that Democrats had a favorable view of Biden 74%-14%, but 44% wanted him not to run again and another 30% didn’t really care whether he did or not. Biden’s numbers over the past several months have been a beacon for serious potential Democrat candidates to enter the race. The only question is if any of them ever decide to follow it.
Biden has the advantage of being the incumbent president, and yet he is running on fumes. Voters don’t like the job he is doing and even the Democrats who do don’t want to run it back for another four years. It’s not a problem he can really fix, because he’s only going to get older in the coming months. Apparently, Democrats are still convinced that he is the best they have to offer, even though it’s an offer everyone wants to decline.
