The Biden administration and localities run by Democrats have trapped themselves in a cycle of failure, where their policies damage each other and lead to them inadvertently admitting to the failures of their party.
The Department of Health and Human Services has told hundreds of employees in San Francisco to work from home due to the high level of crime around the department’s office. The office is located at a known drug hot spot and, between the crime and homelessness, the department wants workers to avoid going to the office “for the foreseeable future.
But the Biden administration is also failing localities through its incompetence and policies. This has been made clear by the countless “sanctuary cities” requesting federal aid to deal with a small fraction of the illegal immigrants that border states are seeing. The moment border states began busing a few hundred illegal immigrants to cities such as Washington, D.C., Chicago, and New York City, the cities began to crumble under the weight of their sanctuary city responsibilities.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has blamed Republicans for holding him to his promises of sanctuary, but he has also blamed the “irresponsibility of the White House for not addressing this problem.” While the Biden administration says that Democratic localities are failing on crime and drugs, Democratic localities are saying that Biden is failing them on immigration. Local Democrats say federal Democrats are failing them, and federal Democrats say local Democrats are failing them.
Here’s an idea: maybe the Democratic policies that both the localities and the Biden administration have pursued are the problem here. This level of failure should require some introspection, but Democrats can’t admit that their party pursues reckless, irresponsible policies based on feelings or misunderstandings about human nature. New York City, Chicago, and other Democratic cities have lost population because of the high cost of living and crime.
The through line in all of this remains the Democratic Party. Biden and Democratic localities are failing each other because their policies, which are the popular positions in the Democratic Party, are failures. It is a vicious cycle of Democrats failing each other. Why should voters be surprised that Biden and these Democratic localities are failing them too?
