What's next for Netflix and SVODs once all of the classic TV titles are swallowed up?

And, in each case, the latest weapon of choice to outflank and outlast all others has become classic television brands and content. Each service hopes that its exclusive classic television choices – and the billions of dollars spent on them – will be the marketing they need to draw us in .
has earmarked billions to play that game - most notably Netflix, which reportedly is spending $13 billion this year alone to fund its Originals. But, Originals are problematic. Unlike established classic television brands like– with established and loyal mass audiences – Originals can be hit or miss. Success is unpredictable, no matter how much data is used to mitigate that risk.
