Bernardo Silva is set to sign a new contract having looked to be on his way out of Manchester City
Bernardo Silva is expected to sign a new deal at Manchester City to end another summer of speculation over his future.
With just two years left on his current contract and once again being open to a new challenge, the player has been available on the market this summer. Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are among the clubs to have shown an interest, as they did last year. Pep Guardiola has always maintained that a player can leave if he no longer wants to be at the club, but City took stock of the market this summer to make sure they weren't going to end up short-changed for a Treble winner in a summer where plenty of clubs are spending big. The transfers of Mason Mount and Declan Rice were used as a sign that only a serious offer for Silva would be considered.
That has not arrived, and to further boost City as they prepare for their defence of the titles they won last season, Silva has been happy to sign a new deal at the club in news that will delight supporters. The fan favourite is reported to have a €50m release clause in his new contract to allow him to leave next year if there is an offer.
