No team’s defensive secondary took a bigger hit in the offseason than that of the Bengals. Over the last several seasons, Cincinnati boasted one of the best defensive backfields in the NFL thanks to their excellent dynamic duo of starting safeties: Jessie Bates III and Vonn Bell.
Hill was always a guy who could show off his versatility in the secondary, even going back to his time at Michigan. With the Wolverines, he played as a free safety in single-high looks, as both an outside and nickel cornerback and got some looks as a dime backer as well. In his rookie season, Hill played in both of the safety spots and got a start as a nickel corner when Mike Hilton was banged up in December.
