Only 38 days after coming on board as the CEO of troubled retailer Bed Bath & Beyond, Mark Tritton made his 1st move to clean house—and it was a big one
as well as virtually the entire board of directors left, too, and an interim management team ran BBB until Tritton started the first week of November, coming over from his position as head merchant of Target.
Things are likely to become clearer early next year, when Tritton will “launch his new vision” for BBB, the release said. “The new team will be charged with streamlining decision-making, accelerating the pace of transformation and reestablishing Bed Bath & Beyond’s authority in the home space through a more customer focused, omnichannel retail operation, a redefined product assortment and a more convenient and inspirational shopping experience.
Wall Street reacted to the moves Tuesday by driving the BBB stock price up 4.3% in early trading on a generally flat morning for the overall market.
