Getting back in action as soon as possible will be the best way for Leeds United to get over the disappointing 3-1 defeat at Southampton, believes Jermaine Beckford. Daniel Farke's men were easily beaten on the south coast, but with a midweek Elland Road fixture coming up, they will not have long to lick their wounds.
A second-minute strike from Adam Armstrong set the tone for a first-half performance where Leeds were simply not at the races and found themselves 3-0 down ten minutes before the break. A slight second-half improvement saw Pascal Struijk net a consolation goal, but what had been a six-match unbeaten run was emphatically ended.
The defeat has seen Leeds drop to ninth place in the Championship table following the rest of Saturday's results, three points off the play-offs and eight off the top two. But the hectic Championship fixture list means that United will return to Elland Road on Wednesday evening to face QPR, in a match that former Whites striker Jermaine Beckford sees as vital.
"It's going to be at Elland Road as well, so they'll have the Elland Road faithful behind them. I'll be honest with you, I don't think we're going to see another performance like that from Leeds United. They were second to everything.
