'It can't be me.' Jeremy Vine denies he is the presenter who has been suspended from the BBC, adding that he has been 'smacked around on Twitter' in recent days. Live updates:

to explore what we know, and don't know, so far about the latest scandal to hit the BBC.BBC director-general Tim Davie is due to face the media tomorrow for a scheduled briefing after the release of the corporation's annual report, but the growing crisis involving the unnamed presenter looks set to dominate the event.

"New allegations, of a different nature, were put to us on Thursday, and, in addition to our own inquiries, we have also been in touch with external authorities, in line with our protocols. He added that the situation was made more complex by the individual's right to"a reasonable expectation of privacy".

While some cases will be investigated by the police, some social media posts constitute libel and would be easy wins for complainants, Mr Stephens said. In the complaint, they reportedly ask the broadcaster to make an unnamed presenter stop sending money to their child. According to The Sun, the youth receives a £1,000 payment allegedly made via PayPal from the presenter. The Sun says the presenter is"a familiar face who is known to millions" and is paid a six-figure salary by the BBC.

On Saturday evening, The Sun publishes an update to its allegations. It claims the youth's mother had seen images of the presenter sitting on his sofa in his underpants. The picture was taken during a video call between the pair, it alleges. The male presenter is suspended from duties and the BBC says it has contacted police over the allegations.

It has dominated its website, news app, television and radio news programming - as the story has on other major outlets. For example - it is required to publish how much it pays its top earners each year and senior executives with the corporation can be called in front of parliamentary committees over their conduct.

"It is a lot, though, to do with the high-profile nature of this, and although things are likely to move quite slowly, at least Scotland Yard has acknowledged that it is looking into the allegations."The Met have released a further statement, saying they are not investigating the case of a suspended BBC presenter yet.
