The Bay Area’s scattered rain showers were expected to persist throughout Tuesday and last into Wednesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
. San Jose, San Francisco and Walnut Creek each received about one-half of an inch Monday, while Oakland saw just more than one-third. The peaks of the Santa Cruz Mountains saw well-over one inch of rain in the 24-hour period.
Just like similar instances on the Peninsula and in the East Bay on Monday, some places could see short bursts of hailstorms paired with isolated winds approaching 40 miles per hour on Tuesday, according to the NWS. The agency said moderate snow accumulation was likely in areas higher than 3,000 feet in elevation, with potential of light accumulation down to 2,000 feet. Aissued at 10 a.m. Monday was scheduled to remain in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday.
In San Jose and Walnut Creek, temperatures were projected to drop down to 34 degrees overnight, with precipitation lasting until Wednesday morning. In Oakland, the chilly temperatures were forecast at 37 degrees. San Francisco was expected to see a 39 degree overnight low.
