A 48-year-old man was charged with murdering his family member in a late February shooting.
PITTSBURG — Contra Costa prosecutors have filed a murder charge against a man arrested for allegedly killing a relative during a Feb. 22 family gathering, court records show.
LC Perkins Jr., 48, was charged with killing 44-year-old Jeremy Abercrombie Sr., of Pittsburg. Two others were wounded by gunfire in the incident, but Perkins hasn’t been charged with shooting them. Perkins allegedly shot and killed Abercrombie after an argument broke out at a family gathering, around 8 p.m. on the 100 block of West Leland Road in Pittsburg, police said at the time. The family was getting together to commemorate the recent death of another relative.
One other person was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and a third person had relatively minor gunshot wounds, police said. Perkins was initially arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, according to the Pittsburg police weekly arrest log. Perkins is due to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Martinez, prosecutors said. He is being held at the Martinez Detention Facility in lieu of $1 million bail.
