It’s been more than two and a half months since the Renegades lost a game.
For someone who isn’t big on winning and losing, Mike Curran sure has been doing a lot of winning lately.
It started Feb. 5 with a 7-2 win over the College of the Desert at the David Buttles Memorial Tournament and hasn’t stopped since. There have been scores as low as 3-2 and as high as 28-2, the Renegades’ most recent tally on Saturday against De Anza . But they’ve finished every game ahead.“We don’t talk about winning and we don’t talk about losing,” Curran said in a phone interview Monday. “It’s all about process and it’s about our preparation and about what we need to do to execute.
Just one day prior to the blowout, De Anza scored six runs in the ninth inning to tighten a 10-3 Ohlone lead to a single run. But Cade Castillo closed it out to preserve the streak. So what happened in the two games that preceded the streak? The Renegades lost 9-2 to Mt. San Antonio, then 12-2 to Cypress on back-to-back days before the first win.
